Attaching a reel or line to the body or equipment during DSMB deployment poses a severe risk of an uncontrolled buoyant ascent if the line jams or tangles. Divers must hold the reel in their hands so it can be safely released if necessary.

The minimum age requirement to enroll in the PADI Night Diver specialty course is 12 years old. Ten-year-olds are restricted from night diving training, and 15 is the minimum age for certain other specialties like Deep Diver.
